Dr. M. Valan Arasu did his postgraduation in Biotechnology and a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Loyola College at Madras University in Chennai, India. During his Ph.D. program, he conducted research in antibiotics in DRDO project at Entomology Research Institute and Loyola College in Chennai, India. He later worked as a Scientist in Biofuels at Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemical Pvt in Hyderabad, India. After that, he pursued post-doctoral studies in Food Bioscience at the National Institute of Animal Science in Chenon, South Korea, and at Chungnam National University in Daejeon, South Korea. He also worked as a post-doctoral researcher in Biofuels at Pusan National University in Busan, South Korea. Currently he is working as Assistant Professor, Department of Botany and Microbiology, College of Science, King Saud University.
Dr. Mukesh Pasupuleti completed his Master's in Biotechnology from the University of Calicut. He started working as a faculty member under the "UNDP for underdeveloped countries" program in Ethiopia, Africa. Later, he moved to Sweden to pursue a Ph.D. in Immunology under Prof. Artur Schimdtchen, specifically researching antimicrobial peptides. Currently, he holds the position of Senior Scientist at the Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI, Lucknow), where he leads an independent research group that focuses on developing peptide-based drugs for infectious diseases. His areas of interest include developmental biology, enzymes, neurology, space biology, immunology, and nanotechnology.
Dr. Punnadath Preetham Elumalai received his master's degree from the University of Madras and passed the National Eligibility Test for Lectureship. He then pursued his Ph.D. and postdoctoral research at the Institute for Immunology, University of Regensburg in Germany. Currently, his research involves the identification of new marine compounds using bioassays, investigating fish lectins in innate immune defense, developing aquatic vaccines, evaluating cost-effective feed additives, and researching the impact of environmental pollutants on marine ecosystems. He has been involved in several research projects funded by organizations in the European Union, India, and the United Kingdom, including IVVN and BactiVac. Dr. Elumalai has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed articles, holds two patents, and has edited five Springer and CRC Press books. He has also presented his research at over 60 national and international conferences. Dr. Elumalai has been recognized for his work with several prestigious awards, including the INSA Fellowship (2018), MASTS Fellowship (2019), IVVN Award (2020), FRSB Award (2021), and BactiVac Award (2022).
Prof. Fatimah Md. Yusoff earned a degree in Zoology from Drew University in the USA in 1977, followed by an MSc and Ph.D. in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife from Michigan State University in 1979 and 1987, respectively. She began her career at Universiti Putra Malaysia as a lecturer in 1980 and was later promoted to Associate Professor in 1991 and Full Professor in 2000. With over four decades of teaching and research experience in aquatic ecology and limnology, she is highly knowledgeable in managing tropical aquatic ecosystems. Her research focuses on ecological investigations of various aquatic systems, including reservoirs, lakes, coastal waters, and aquaculture systems, with an emphasis on biodiversity, live feeds, aquatic bioactive substances, bioremediation, and water quality management. She has been awarded over 40 national and international research grants as a project leader. She has published over 300 articles in distinguished journals as of 2022. She has also acted as a consultant for environmental and aquaculture companies. Her achievements include being recognized as a Top Research Scientist Malaysia (TRSM) and being appointed a Fellow Academy of Science Malaysia in 2013.
Dr. Aziz Bin Arshad did his Ph.D. in Benthic Ecology from University of Plymouth, U.K. He is a Research Associate at The International Institute of Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences (I-AQUAS UPM). He is a Recipient of 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2019 University ‘Excellent Career Service Award’ (Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang) (APC-UPM). His field of Interest is Marine Invertebrate Biology; Crustacean Culture, and Aquaculture Biotechnology. He is also a Professor of Fisheries Biology, Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture, UPM Serdang Selangor. He also served as a Director in Centre of Marine Science (COMAS), UPM, Port Dickson. He has published over 300 articles in refereed journals. He is appointment as Consultant for Macrobenthos monitoring of the Putrajaya Lake and Wetlands.
